Maintaining a Bulk Ink System

If you have not purchased your sublimation solution yet, please seriously consider whether or not a bulk ink system is right for you.  Bulk ink systems requires high volume printing and regular maintenance.  If you want a sublimation printer that you are only going to use every once in a while, a bulk ink system is not for you.  It is highly encouraged to start out using cartridges then switch to a bulk ink system if the printing volume warrants it.

If you already have a bulk system, there are a few important things to remember so you can keep your ink delivery system working and preserve your investment.

1. Run a nozzle check every day to keep the ink running in the lines.  A nozzle check is not a cleaning! A cleaning will use a substantial amount of ink each time you do one.  A nozzle check uses a miniscule amount of ink that tests each nozzle.  The nozzle check utility can be found in the regular Epson or Ricoh driver as well as the Sublijet PowerDriver.

2. Do not elevate your hardware or squeeze the ink bags if you are getting poor prints.  You will not realize it, but doing so will force lots and lots if ink into the printer.  If you force too much ink into the printer, it will begin to pool in the base and ruin the printer.  If you are getting poor prints, try one cleaning.  If that doesn’t work, call tech support immediately.

3. Once you have it hooked up, do not remove it or switch back and forth between other inks.  You will be forced to run many cleaning and waste lots of ink.  Plus, the bulk ink system is not designed to be hooked up and removed on a regular basis.  The bulk ink system is delicate and should be handled with care.  Make sure your printer is dedicated to your bulk ink system.

Always contact technical support if you run into issues.
